Terms of Service

Effective October 5, 2026

The short version
  • Kartta is free during the beta. Use it on your own projects.
  • Kartta only reads your code — it never changes it. Your code stays yours.
  • The checks and advice are helpful hints, not a guarantee or a security audit. You stay responsible for your app.

These terms are an agreement between you and Kartta (“Kartta”, “we”, “us”) about your use of the website kartta.dev, the web app at kartta.dev/app and the command-line helper @karttadev/cli (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you use it on behalf of a company, you confirm you can accept them for it. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

1. Beta

Kartta is in public beta. It is offered free of charge, features may change or be removed, and it may contain bugs. We may limit, suspend or stop the Service, or parts of it, at any time.

2. Your code and your data

You keep all rights to your code and projects. Kartta analyzes them in your browser or on your computer; it does not upload them to us (see the Privacy Policy). Kartta is read-only: it does not edit, commit, push or delete files in your projects. Only use Kartta on projects you have the right to access.

3. Using Kartta

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own projects, including commercial ones. Please don’t:

Kartta, its name, logo, website and software are owned by us. Except for the license above, these terms don’t give you any rights to them. Feedback you send us can be used to improve Kartta without any obligation to you.

4. Checks, advice and AI prompts

Kartta’s map, impact analysis, security check, code health tips, architecture advice and AI-context files are generated automatically from your files. They can be incomplete or wrong, and Kartta can’t see settings made outside your code (for example in the Supabase or Vercel dashboards).

They are not a security audit, a guarantee that your app is secure, or professional advice. A clean report doesn’t mean there are no problems. Review every suggestion — and any code an AI tool writes from a Kartta prompt — before using it, and keep backups. You are responsible for your app, your data and your users.

5. Third-party services

Kartta works alongside tools like GitHub, Supabase, Vercel, npm and AI coding assistants. Their use is governed by their own terms; we aren’t responsible for them.

6. Paid plans

The beta is free. If we launch paid plans, their price, billing, renewal and refund terms will be shown clearly before you pay, and you’ll accept them separately. Nothing in the free beta will be charged without your explicit agreement.

7. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that it will find every problem in your code.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kartta will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or business, arising from or related to your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

9. Ending

You can stop using Kartta at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. Sections 2–5 and 7–10 continue to apply after that.

10. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Kartta is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part right away doesn’t mean we give it up. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll give notice on the website. Continuing to use Kartta after a change means you accept it.
